Profile

Dynamisis specializes in the use of dynamic analysis to help decision makers better understand the impact of variability and complexity in processes and projects. Our consultants work in more than 50 nations and dozens of industries. Projects range from optimization of production lines to development of strategic project portfolios, designing of efficient health care facilities to analyzing the risk of schedule slippage in large product-development projects. Solutions include training and coaching on the use of specific simulation modeling tools to delivery of complete project analyses and recommendations.

Since 1990, we have partnered with ProModel Corporation (www.promodel.com) in the US to bring our clients the most powerful and easy-to-use tools available for creating discrete-event (time-based) simulation models. ProModel introduced the first Windows-based simulation software in 1993 and has pioneered a number of other industry advances:

1 - Integration of simulation with spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft’s Excel;
2 – Integration of simulation with flow chart tools such as MS Visio;
3 - Developed the first link between simulation and optimization; and
4 - Introduced the use of dynamic models for project risk assessment and project portfolio analysis as plug-ins/add-ons to Microsoft Project and Project Server.

ProModel Corporation is a Gold Certified partner of Microsoft. Dynamisis AG serves as the principle outlet for distribution of ProModel software tools outside of the US and Canada.

Methodology

Dynamisis specializes in dynamic analysis of business operations. Our predictive analytics create actionable insights, using detailed computer models to show how processes and projects change over time. Bottlenecks, schedule slippage, resource competition and other complex challenges are highlighted both statistically and graphically. Process owners and project planners can point out potential problems to workers on the shop floor or demonstrate strategic conflicts to leaders in the executive suite. These dynamic models are then used to experiment with alternative solutions in a risk-free environment. Decision makers can move ahead with confidence that a solution will work because they have seen it in a realistic and predictive model.

Dynamisis uses the ProModel VAO methodology to help clients visualize, analyze and optimize their way to improved process performance and more effective project risk management.

Processes

We use a variety of powerful software tools to create detailed process models based on realistic activity times and resource constraints. These models also incorporate the elements of variability that often complicate process planning. As the models simulate process performance over time, computer animations help our clients visualize key issues (e.g., bottlenecks, resource conflicts, etc.) that limit output, increase cost or undermine customer service. We then analyze statistics collected on all aspects of process performance to identify areas for potential improvement. New ideas for process improvements are incorporated into the model to find those changes that will optimize system outcomes.

Dynamic models support a variety of process-improvement approaches, including Lean, Six Sigma, Process Reengineering, Theory of Constraints and Benchmarking. Our clients have found that animated models are ideal for communicating process knowledge throughout the organization—across disciplines, specialties and even cultures.

Projects

Advances in simulation technology have enabled dynamic analysis of projects to account for the risks associated with unexpected delays and resource competition. Using representative distributions to replace static activity times, project simulations help our clients visualize a range of possible completion dates and assess the impact of a shifting critical path. Multiple project initiatives can be simulated in parallel to analyze the impact of competition among projects on resource availability. Project planners can then optimize the selection, prioritization, sequence and scheduling of projects in a portfolio to meet strategic objectives.

Services

Dynamisis endeavors to provide complete solutions carefully calibrated to our clients’ needs. Our services range from software sales and training to coaching, consulting and managed services.

Software

We offer the full range of ProModel software products to support process improvement efforts and strategic planning  of projects. In addition to helping clients select the tool best suited to individual requirements, we are also able to provide technical assistance and development support on custom applications such as project-specific user interfaces.

Training & Coaching

Dynamisis provides training in a variety of formats to meet client needs, including open courses, workshops and webinars. Our JumpStart program offers on-site training coupled with coaching services to help ensure the success of an initial project.

Consulting

Our consultants help hundreds of clients around the world apply the power of dynamic models in dozens of industries. Based on a careful and in-depth needs assessment, we create realistic models that help clients visualize existing system performance. We then analyze process statistics to identify the causes of missed objectives. Finally, we work closely with the client to identify and validate feasible improvements to achieve an optimized process or project.

Managed Services

Dynamisis is able to provide simulation specialists on a long-term basis to support ongoing process improvement efforts. The specific skillset provided is based on client needs and schedules.

Tools

Through ProModel International, Dynamisis provides access to a full range of simulation-based analysis tools, together with training and support. Please contact us for a no-cost needs assessment to help identify the appropriate tool for your situation.

Process Simulator is a multipurpose process analysis tool that plugs into Microsoft’s popular Visio package. This combination enables the analysis of time-based changes to many business processes. Our consultants will be glad to help you assess whether this software is appropriate for your application. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/processsimulator/

ProModel is a powerful and flexible toolkit for modeling complex processes in manufacturing, logistics and related applications. Its built-in logic constructs reduce the need for programming skills and facilitate rapid model building by individuals with deep process knowledge.  This is one of the most well-known and user-friendly simulation tools available. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/promodel/

ServiceModel  was designed for modeling complex processes in airlines, banks, call centers and other service-oriented industries. Similar to ProModel in capabilities and modeling approach, its graphics libraries support the animation of common service applications. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/servicemodel/

MedModel is dedicated to simulation of the many complex processes that make up a health care environment, including emergency treatment (ED/A&E), bed management and surgical scheduling. This toolkit is often used in support of facility design or renovation projects to ensure that the physical space supports the process design. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/medmodel/

Project Simulator plugs into Microsoft Project to help project management professionals better understand the potential impacts of variability on project timetables. Activity times and resource availability can be defined within ranges to estimate the likely impact of variation on schedules over the course of a project. This is an ideal tool for sensitivity analysis and experimentation with potential solutions to get a project back on schedule and within budget. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/projectsimulator/

A key challenge for project-based organizations is balancing the availability of resources across competing projects. Portfolio Simulator allows project planners to assess the impact of this resource competition and experiment with priorities that will optimize the achievement of strategic objectives. By incorporating the likelihood of schedule slippage and project attrition, Portfolio Simulator can help cut through the uncertainty surrounding project risk management. Please visit http://www.promodel.com/products/portfoliosimulator/

A web-based enterprise version of this product now integrates with Microsoft Project Server to enable modeling of strategic projects across the organization.  Please visit  http://www.promodel.com/products/eps
